The job profile of an armed security guard involves taking a close look at the people and the property. There are several companies that need these guards to remain attentive and alert all the time. These guards carry lethal weapon and thus they need to maintain high standard of behavior.

At the entry level, many armed security guards get around $18 per hour on an average. The higher positions, like the leadership positions offer more and also provide extra benefits. There are some armed guards that work for university campus police forces. These armed guards make good salaries and also retirement benefits and other packages. Moreover, there are thousands of security employees that are the member of the Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America (SPFP, which is an International Union. Being a Union member, the guards get legal representation in case of problems with management, educational scholarships for family members, etc. Thus, being an armed security guard can be good career choice but you need to careful about certain aspects while getting into the job.
