To enforce State laws, municipal ordinances, and ARRC security plans and procedures in a manner providing lawful protection of ARRC assets, property, employees and the public. Applicants must be able to successfully complete a physical ability test which will consist of running, push ups, sit ups, changing a tire, and climbing on various pieces of rail equipment. View Class Specifications for this job: Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or possession of a GED certificate is required. Graduation from a certified law enforcement academy is required. Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice is preferred. Railroad police or security experience is preferred. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Must meet the requirements of the Alaska Department of Public Safety for Special Officer Commission and have the authority to carry firearms. Must be citizen of the United States. Must be 21 years old or older. Must possess a valid driver’s license and not have had any traffic violation within the past two years.
During the past ten years (unless under 18 years of age at the time of use), must not have used marijuana, or ever used other illegal controlled substances or illegally used controlled prescription medicines. Must never have illegally manufactured, transported or sold a controlled substance. Must never been convicted of any felony (by civilian court of Alaska, the United States, or other state or territory, or by a military court). Must never have been convicted (by civilian court of Alaska, the United States, or other state or territory, or by a military court) for a misdemeanor crime that resulted in serious physical injury to another person, or driving while under the influence offenses or chemical test refusals, or a misdemeanor crime of dishonesty or moral turpitude, or a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanor crime within the past ten years (unless under 18 years of age at the time).

Do you have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite? 3. Do you have a working knowledge of law enforcement/security practices to include: patrol procedures, basic investigative techniques, basic interview techniques, preservation of evidence, use of force and completion of accurate and articulate investigative reports? 4. Do you possess the ability to operate photographic equipment, digital voice recorders, and portable radios? 5. Do you have a basic understanding of railroad safety rules and procedures and are you familiar with railroad terminology and equipment? 6. Do you have a working knowledge of firearms and the ability to complete a qualification course for both handguns and long guns?
