The position is assigned to the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES). DES is a Garrison organization located on Fort Campbell. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville. Both visitors & residents enjoy the shops & eateries of downtown Clarksville. The cost of living is lower than the average for all major U.S. cities.

Control access of vehicles, visitors and pedestrians into military installations.
Screen employees, visitors, and contractor personnel for visitor access on military installations.
Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with (IAW) federal and state laws.
Control, prepare and issue identification badges, cards and passes that allow access to the installation.
Deny access to unauthorized personnel or those who do not meet authorized entry criteria.
Make instantaneous decisions regarding use of deadly force, operate Active Vehicle Barrier when required, and alert appropriate officials of apparent security violations.
Conduct foot or vehicle patrol of perimeters, roadways, parking and other high traffic areas as well as interior of shops, storage administrative and other structures.
Conduct traffic stops at the Installation Access Control Point (IACP) for safety and security checks.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position 5% of the time.

Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program.
Covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver?s license.
Must undergo and pass periodic medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability.
Must pass a Army Physical Fitness/Agility Test in accordance with AR 190-56.
May be required shift work that includes weekends and holidays.
May be required to work overtime.
Required to successfully complete Security Guard training.
Required to successfully complete CPR and First Aid training.
Required to keep with the requirements of Individual Reliability Program IAW AR 190-56.
Required to wear a uniform in accordance with AR 190-56.
Required to work inside and outside in inclement weather.
Required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, pepper spray, hand baton, launch electro stun device and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Required to complete and successfully pass an initial and semi-annually weapons qualification test.
Must be able to obtain and maintain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Access Control Operations
Advancement requirement to positions up to GS-5: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
NOTE: To support the Advancement requirement you MUST submit a copy of your latest non-award SF-50/NPA that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis along with your application/resume package. Failure to do so may affect your rating or consideration for employment.
